1) My rose bushes are covered with buds, but this Angel Face greeted the world before all the rest.
And here’s a close-up of the blossoms on our Banana Shrub. Tiny as they are, they fill the whole backyard with the fragrance of—you guessed it: bananas. Or maybe Juicy Fruit gum.
2) Aliens have landed in my manuscript. No tinfoil hats here: I’m telling the truth! While the USA was sending austronauts into orbit, Dr. Frank Stranges was traveling the evangelical circuit, weaving together Scriptures and stories about UFOs and “Strangers at the Pentagon.” I needed a short break from my revisions, so I donned my Nancy Drew gumshoes and tracked down a Hollywood insider who knew him well. Among other things, we discussed the night Dr. Frank brought his ministry to my father’s church in Dallas, Texas.
Another day, I’ll tell you about that fabulous adventure. Today, though, I’m firmly grounded in my plans to finish up in Baltimore. After
much weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth lots of revisions, I ending up tearing the chapter apart and starting over. Pit stop over, I’m revving my engines again. Another productive day or so of writing, and I’ll be ready to move on to Ashland, Pennsylvania. Vroom vroom!
