The clean_slates community is open to all LJ members ISO a little extra camaraderie and accountability. Beginning today, we’re setting new goals (or updating existing plans), with the autumn equinox as our next milestone marker. Perhaps you’d like to join us?
The equinox happens twice yearly, springtime and autumn. It falls on the day when the nighttime is equal to the daytime. This year, it lands on September 22 at 15:44 p.m.
Several holiday celebrations occur around this date, often centered around common themes: harvest, balance, and thanksgiving. Mother Earth wears party clothes embroidered with fall colors — orange, magenta, scarlet, yellow, indigo, and brown.
If you’d like to join the festivities, come on over! We’re an accommodating, supportive group. You can write goals about anything, be as specific or abstract as you’d like. With the autumnal equinox as inspiration, here are some prompts to get you started:
- Which fruits of your labor would you like to harvest on September 22?
- What aspect of your life could you bring into balance?
- What gifts might you recognize and offer, to bring gratitude and thanksgiving into your life?

I’m in! Is this a locked LJ? Can anyone access it?
Thanks for posting about this!
It’s not locked — we’re not like that. Just join the community, and you can start posting comments and entries!
Glad you’re interested!
That’s a great picture. Alas, I have no margin in life for a new community, but ya’ll have fun now, ya’ hear?
Thanks, Jonathan. I think we will!
You’re building your own little community, aren’t you? It’ll be larger by 33.33% very soon. 🙂
Any day now. 🙂
I’m glad to see that is continuing, Melodey!! I don’t know what I’d do without everyone keeping me on track…
I love that photo – it’s perfect! What do I want to harvest?
I want to find the ba**s … er … intestinal fortitude to submit all my finished short stories/picture books (14 in all) to editors and agents.
I’m glad it’s continuing, too, Sharon. I need it, even when I don’t post as regularly as you and some of the others. It inspires me when I see everyone’s hard work and dedication, and it prompts me to do my very best, too.
You have all you need to get those manuscripts submitted, Sharon. Time and again, you’ve proved yourself courageous. Don’t hold back now, girl! The world awaits! 🙂
