Eye of the storm

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the path of Hurricane Gustav—especially those who’ve already suffered devastating losses because of Hurricane Katrina.

A pox on anyone who exploits this situation, whether for economic gain or political advantage. Let this be a call to the better angels of our nature, and may we respond with wisdom, compassion, and courage.

  1. Obama says he doesn’t think he should go down there because with all the media, etc., that follows him, it would be a distraction to the people on the ground.

McCain, on the other hand, is on his way to Mississippi with his vice-presidential candidate. Hopefully she’s leaving her infant son at home.

    • Oh, but it’s not her baby,it’s her 17 year old daughter’s according to the latest internet rumor. 🙂

Heh, it’s mud season, no matter what any of them do, somebody will find fault with it.

      • Odds favor it being her baby, based on age of the mother, etc. I can find many things I disagree with Palin about, but I see no need to sling crap at her. Her beliefs are valid, whether I agree with them or not.

I am truly angry that folks would manufacture crap about her children. That is way over the line.

  2. That thing is huge. My heart goes out to all those people. I can feel their paralyzing fear. Some areas of Florida are likely to be impacted as well, since there is still flooding in areas around the rivers. And then there’s Hanna. I think Gustav is sheering off her top winds, keeping her weak. We’ll see. Those poor folks. I just can’t imagine. I keep thinking of all the pets. I’ll deal with a little flooding any day…
