Home again, home again, jiggedy jig

We had beautiful weather both weeks I was in Oregon and Washington. And while I managed to squeeze in a little research, I did a whole lot more playing than writing.

I’ll probably post more vacation adventures later, but I’ll share this snapshot for starters…

Every time I visit Portland, I make a pilgrimage to Powell’s. Good thing there’s a weight restriction on baggage, or I would probably clean out their shelves! This trip was an extra-special treat, because I met up with Lorraine in the bookstore’s coffee shop. For two delicious hours, we talked and talked and talked over tea. Our conversation meandered, as it often does when two like-minded spirits connect. We discussed our favorite books and authors, and we mulled over the ways our life experiences have shaped our own writing. And oh yes, we dished about girly stuff, too!

and me

I had a great time with family and friends, but after so many days away, it feels especially good to be home. I’m feeling refreshed, and even though my typing fingers are a bit rusty, I’m eager to get back to my writing.

So tell me…What have I missed?

  1. I love Powell’s! I could stay there all day and wander the store. I never leave there without spending money! (And NO sales tax!) But yes, the weight restriction on luggage does rein me in! Glad you had a great time!

  2. What a great pic! It’s good to have you back. You have missed nothing from my corner of the world. Well, I did go back to work on the sequel of the book my agent is shopping around (positive thinking!) But, that’s about it.

Can’t wait to hear more about your vacation!

    • A sequel! Oooh, that sounds exciting!! That’ll keep your mind occupied while you’re waiting to hear back from editors, right? At least, that’s probably the idea… 🙂

      • Yeah – that’s the idea. I can’t believe I had 50K words written on it when I stopped last Feb. So – I am actually almost finished with it! I posted about it on my blog today – how much fun I’m having getting reacquainted with my characters.

  3. Welcome back! I’m glad you enjoyed your vacation… and there is nothing wrong with playing!! Love the photo!

What’s new on this front? Nothing much. Just playing hooky from writing while my son is here. Friday will come all too soon, but in the meantime we are having a great time together

    • Oh, I didn’t know he was staying for more than a weekend. Lucky you, lucky him!

Is your computer fully operational now? I’ll bet he’s got it set up just right for your needs, good son that he is. 🙂

      • Yup, I am very lucky. He arrived Tuesday afternoon and then left for the Otakon Convention in Baltimore Thursday morning. He came back late last night and will be here until Friday afternoon. : )

Nope, if all goes as planned the computer will get switched over to the new one this afternoon. He set up the new flat screen monitor before he left on Thursday. I like the 20″ wide screen but am having trouble getting used to how all the print looks as these old eyeballs do not like changes.
