  1. Oh, Happy Day!!

Yes indeed!! It is a glorious day for America!!

The young are leading us once again and last night reminded me of how I felt when JFK was elected. This old 60’s radical is energized again, and dreaming of all the possibilities that lay before us. Keep the energy of last night flowing for a better tomorrow! Yes WE can!!

Ask not what your country can do for you … ask what you can do for your country!
    ~ A line from the Inaugural Address by John F. Kennedy – January 20th 1961 ~

    • Hippies unite! Whether radical or moderate, let’s all dance under the streetlights in our granny dresses, daisy chains and bare feet.

Hurray for a renewal of our political energies. And hurray for people like you, who helped inspire us in turbulent times. Even when hope grew dim, we could count on you to reach for the stars, to point us to a better tomorrow. xo

    • The European newpapers were white-hot with criticism at the end of our last election, and rightfully so, I think. It’s such a relief to think that we’ve come to our collective senses, and that we can demonstrate a renewed sense of purpose to our European allies. I think this election will go a long way toward rebuilding our friendships around the world.

On a personal note, I’m glad that we’re friends — regardless of politics. πŸ™‚

    • Oh wow, great minds think alike. πŸ™‚

I worried that some might be put off by the religious lyrics, but I figured that people would hear my intended message as soon as they connected with the beat. πŸ™‚

      Glad you’re smiling, L.!

    • A very, very happy day!

I hope you had fun cranking up the volume! There’s a long version available on YouTube, but this one cuts to the chorus, which is exactly what I wanted.

  2. That is one of my favorite songs (I love the version from Sister Act 2, and this one is really close to that πŸ™‚

Perfect for today, thanks for posting it.

    • I’m glad you liked it! It was the first thing that came to mind when I woke up on post-election morning.

I love the Sister Act version, too, but this one’s closer to my roots. So raw and raucous, right? I’m reaching for my tambourine… πŸ™‚
